Anna Kinnam Style- The Malayalam version of Gangnam Style
Gangnam Style has become a sensation around the world, and for most of us it’s not weird that it’s Korean. Thanks to YouTube Gangnam Style become the most viewed video of all time with 805 million times. Park Jae-sang (PSY) who is the creator of Gangnam Style recently set the Guinness world record for going viral in YouTube. The song has become an inspiration for many to create their own versions of ‘Ganganam Style’.
‘Anna Kinnam Style’ is the Malayalam parody of the PSY’s ‘Ganganm style. The song has been created by 2007’s Idea star Singer Finalist Nithin Raj and his friend Unnikrishnan. It features two broke friends who have been dumped by their girlfriends. PSY’s iconic ‘horse riding’ and the ‘Cow boy’ dance moves are also there in ‘Anna Kinnam Style’.

Anna Kinnam Style already crossed 70,000+ views on YouTube in less than a month. The album has been released by Kolambi Records. Nithinraj has performed in various stages including finalist of SS Music Voice Hunt (2004). He had also done harmonies for A.R Rahman for Endhiran and Raavan. Unnikrishnan has composed for many projects including Asianet Vodafone Comedy Stars, Neelambari in Jaihind and been a part of musical presentation in Victors Channel. Nithin Raj and Unnikrishnan first met while they were studying at Mar Ivanios College in Trivandrum. Their previous projects include ‘Pattupoochikal’ ,’Kerala Vandanam’ , and currently they are working on ‘Azarmulla’.
For those who don’t know what ‘Gangnam Style’ means?
Gangnam is a wealthy territory in Seoul, South Korea and ‘Oppa’ means “older brother”. PSY described the song as a tribute to the ladies of the district.
“Gangnam is a territory in Seoul, Korea. I describe it as noble at the daytime and going crazy at the night time. I compare ladies to the territory. So noble at the daytime, going crazy at the night time and the lyric says I am the right guy for the lady who is like that.” Said PSY.
